Here it is, our last massive line-up breakdown. Today we will give you some of our favorite acts that were announced to be playing Noorderslag. To refresh your memory, Noorderslag is the part of ESNS that is dedicated to new music from the Netherlands. So if you want to catch the next big Dutch thing, be sure to check out Noorderslag.
All the King’s Daughters
Remember that great session we did with All the King’s Daughters? Be reminded of their great sound by listening to it again. This duo is headed for greatness with their magical harmonies and folky sound. It is certainly an act we feel you should check out.
Blue Crime
This band from Amsterdam makes tunes that are best described as psychedelic, mysterious and atmospheric. The fragile vocals float seemingly in between beautiful bass lines and fuzzy guitars.
Bökkers
Rock’n’Roll in Dutch. That’s what best describes Bökkers. It is AC/DC meets Chuck Berry meets country music. And the result is something you need to go and see if you want to experience some local color. The band is from the east of the Netherlands, so expect to dance and get covered in beer.
Haty Haty
If you’re looking to listen to something surprising, check out Haty Haty. This imitative by David Douglas and Blaudzun has no tunes out yet, but with their previous success in mind this should be nothing but an amazing surprise.
Midas
This 25-year old songwriter is a true guitar virtuoso. He recently spent some time abroad to focus on his songwriting and the results that came from it are nothing short of incredible. A catchy mix of folk, indie and a hint of alternative, Midas promises to be an not-to-be-missed act at Noorderslag this year.
Tears & Marble
Take some dreamy vocals, atmospheric synths and a good beat and you’ve got Tears & Marble. Their cover of ‘What is Love’ was received with praise and is rich in its simplicity. And that what makes this duo from The Hague so great, their sonic attitude of less is more truly pays off.
Umeme Afrorave
If you’re looking for a tropical dance party, look no further. Uneme Afrorave mixes African music with electronic beats to create a truly innovative sound. And an extremely danceable sound. If you’re looking to get your feet moving during Noorderslag, Uneme Afrorave is the band to put on your list.
Now ESNS has released most of their line-up (there might still be some great surprises ahead of you, you never know with ESNS) we’re eagerly waiting for the line-up per venue, so we can give you our opinion on what you should see where. Catch you at the next update!
