Sometimes, dancing is just all you want to do; it’s certainly all we felt like doing the day we set out to film a session with an up and coming band whom we knew had a talent for getting the floor moving. For a young act who’s band name was inspired by its bass player’s stuffed monkey, though, Dutch indie-pop band Project Bongo has developed a surprisingly mature level of musical creativity and musicianship. With an eye on the project’s birthplace however, we needn’t be all too surprised about that; the band’s shared time at The Herman Brood Academie has given them plenty of time to grow and hone their craft. Since then, things have been going well for the five-piece, having laid down a performance on radio 3FM as well as earning a spot as the support act for English indie-rock band the Mystery Jets. Having just returned from a two-week tour in Sweden, it’s nice to know we have the band back here though, reminding us that summer is always just a play-button away; even on the rainiest of days.
