Modern times seem not to have stopped many of us from enjoying a little ‘blast from the past’ once in a while; whether it’s clearing out the closets to make room for your beloved VHS collection, enjoying a nice sunny day at your local civil war reenactment, or just simply reflecting some of those melancholy feelings in your musical tastes. The last notion certainly seems to be the most popular of the three,  prompting some to speak of a so called ‘folk revival’ having emerged over the past few years. Among all this, ‘Friends Of The Family’ stand out as the creators of their own eclectic mix of folky-goodness. I mean; guitars, acoustic bass, mandolins, banjos, a melodica, an irish flute, the raspy voice… it’s all there. We did a session with the guys backstage at Parkpop, where everything quickly turned into one big and beautiful sing-along; one that will satisfy our melancholy urges for months to come.
