Rockstone was on the road again, but this time close to home, where we attended the international festival for contemporary visual and performing arts TodaysArt 2014. This festival has travelled across The Hague for almost nine years, moving from the buildings such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs to this years location; the Zuiderstrand Theatre in Scheveningen. Why Rockstone is interested in this festival is because it not only delivers great artists full of talent and enthusiasm, but it also allows people to engage in new experience through art and technology.
So, who did we see and what did we do?
Rockstone was keen on seeing an upcoming English musician, songwriter, and producer SOHN who is known for his sorrowful, yet powerful music. As we expected, the mysterious artist delivered a mind-blowing and passionate performance and we definitely advise anyone to grab the chance to see him perform live.
Next came Nils Frahm, a German musician, whose skills lie in combining classical piano with electronic music. During his performance, Frahm was able to bring the audience deep into his world of passion through his unusual way of using the piano. Spoiling no more, this artist is again on the top of the list of must-see.
Amidst all the music and food, we also enjoyed art exhibitions and installations that were spread along the location. Last but not least, late in the evening, DJ’s such as Torus, The Gaslamp Killer, and Fatima Al Qadiri continued the party till the early hours.
Music, art, and food make this festival, to whoever missed this years event, one to put in next years agenda! Watch out for the date and location for next years festival here; http://todaysart.nl/2014/
