Rockstone Sessions recently reminded you about the fact that the dark winter was on its end and we gave you five festival tips for the spring of 2015. At the moment we’re in the very first week of this lovely season and now we’ve looked into the many promising album releases for this period. Check out our selection below and you’ll know what to expect.

1. Seasick Steve – Sonic Soul Surfer. Release: 23 March
Today this 74-year-old Bleus/Folk/Boogie/Country musician from the United States will release his tenth album. Not bad for somebody who had his breakthrough at an age where most retire. It’s expected to be another great and rough album, mostly played on homemade instruments. The video clip below is of the song called ‘Summertime Boy’, which is the fifth song on the CD. It’s a typical Seasick Steve song and hopefully an indication of the rest of the tracks.

2. Selah Sue – Reason. Release: 30 March
Exactly one week after Sea Sick Steve’s release, the Belgian singer-songwriter Selah Sue will make your Monday a bit brighter. It’s been already four years since her amazing debut album, but it’s expected to be worth the wait. Two of the new tracks, called ‘Alone’ and ‘Reason’, are already available as singles and they’re again highly appreciated. Check out the video below and you’ll understand!

3. Alabama Shakes – Sound and Color. Release: 21 April
The Alabama Shakes built up quite a reputation after their fabulous debut in 2012. Their album Boys and Girls surprised they entire music industry and even received three Grammy Award nominations. Sound and Color is expected to be another masterpiece of multiple Rock styles, Soul and Americana music. In an interview on their own website, guitarist Heath Fogg mentions: “Everybody has really advanced on their instruments, Brittany’s (lead singer and guitarist) vocals have gotten so much stronger, she’s able to do more things than she even knew she could.” The video below absolutely confirms this. It’s a live version of ‘Don’t Wanna Fight’, which will be on their new album.

4. Mumford and Sons – Wilder Mind. Release: 04 May
Speaking about reputations, the third album of this Folk Rock band is definitely a promising one. The band has won two Brit Awards (Best British Album and Best British Group) as well as a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. After all this success, Mumford and Sons needed some time and took sabbatical. Fortunately they returned to the studio to record Wilder Mind. The new lead single called ‘Believe’ has been available since a couple weeks and is displayed below.

 5. Kanye West – So Help Me God. Release: 10-05-2015 (expected)
Even though it isn’t entirely sure when this album will be released (it’s expected around the tenth of May) it cannot be excluded from this list. After having recorded seven extremely successful albums before, nobody has any doubts about this one being full of new hits again. Kanye West recently announced on twitter that it will be called So Help Me God. But mainly, the producer/rapper/singer-songwriter has kept pretty tight-lipped about it. We do know however that ‘All Day’ will be on it, a new single that features Theophilus London, Allan Kingdom and Paul McCartney. The song got released a couple weeks ago and we absolutely love it.
