True Major Lazer fans have been waiting for the start of June 2015 ever since the Grammy Award ceremony of last February. That is because during this event Major Lazer’s founding father Diplo announced that on Monday the first his electronic music group would release their third studio album. The American DJ and record producer kept his promise and since this week Peace is the Mission is available on Itunes, CD and vinyl.

Besides Diplo, Major Lazer consists of The Jillionaire, Walshy Fire and DJ Boaz van de Beatz at the moment, but multiple other well-respected electronic musicians have been part of the group. The project is already running since 2009 and they’ve managed to cooperate with huge artists like Pharrell Williams and Snoop Dogg during the years. Apparently they’ve been working with Belgian singer-songwriter Selah Sue as well, but that track hasn’t been released yet. Even though Major Lazer has its roots in electronic music, their songs aren’t always entirely of that particular genre. Some tracks for example have reggae fusion and hip hop elements in it, which makes the group’s repertoire more accessible for listeners who aren’t big fans of dance music. A characteristic that we at Rockstone appreciate in particular is the way Diplo and his colleagues take care of the visuals accompanying their sound. They have quite a reputation in releasing epic music videos and they even have their own cartoon. The video clips for their new songs are definitely of the same high standard, as you can see below. Check out the one of ‘Lean On’ by Major Lazer and DJ Snake ft , inspired by the group’s tour through India. It’s the first single of the new album and was already released last March. While you’re on it, we recommend the video below of their song ‘Powerful’ (ft Ellie Goulding & Tarrus Riley) as well. It’s actually just a lyric video, but brought to you in the arty way you’d expect from these guys. Besides that, it is an awesome track.
