IX, the alter ego of Marnix Dorrestein – so no Roman numerals – is what you call a musical genius. While you’re happy to be able to play some power chords on your guitar, Marnix is a composer, producer, guitarist, poet, arranger, singer, drummer, thumb pianist and much more. This guys is no joke. After many musical projects, he bundles his strengths in his solo project IX. With this he creates a style that’s a mix between pop music from the sixties, seventies and eighties. Not in a nostalgic way, though. Marnix takes that old style and mixes it with a futuristic sound, with that creating something that’s entirely his own style. But how does IX sound without the usage of electronic instruments? Still great, we must say. Check out their acoustic session of ‘Lose it’ out here! It’s on a car.
