Hollands first Kingsday, and therefore also the ‘Koningsnach’ (Kingsnight) is about to look promising. It has been sunny all day and the temperatures are fairly high. Will this be one of the rare outdoor activities in The Hague where it stays dry? No. Just when the first bands of the The Hague Kingsnight Life I Live Festival are about to start, thunder and rain come in. Hollands favourite site ‘Buienradar’ showed The Hague was one of the very few lucky places hit by this unfortunate weather. None the less, we want good music, so we pack up your tin cans of beers and put on a raincoat. The bands are here for us, so we’re there for them. Here’s our quick report with some pictures from them for you.

There are loads of bands to check out. Sadly enough we have a selection to make and a constant run from one stage to the next. We kick off with one of The Hague’s finest: Taymir. Even though it is still raining, there’s a pretty big crowd absorbing the love Taymir is giving them. Performing a new song and off course their hit ‘AHA’. Even though the performance isn’t flawless (broken strings and all), there’s enough energy to feed off.

CoelyAfter this something else: hiphop. The young and talented Belgium hiphop performer Coely knows how to capture her crowd. She turns out to be an amazing singer ánd rap artist in one. It’s a highly diverse concert from a truly talented woman. Have to say that the slightly geeky deejay in the background doesn’t really fit the tough image, but hey, he tries.

Next sprint is back to the Indie Stage on Kerkplein where Moss started their concert. It stopped raining, more people are gathering and Moss puts on a great show! Even though their music might pass you by when you play it for yourself, there’s no avoiding this energetic performance. Too bad they ended their show with a slow song, it’s like a candle slowly fading out.

Birth of Joy

When Jett Rebel is about to start the crowd shows to be too large for the small stage. And it has to be said: this man deserves a bigger one. Especially since he’s b

ecome extremely popular. There’s a good reason for that: the songs are catchy, good and the performance is awesome. Jett Rebel really knows how to put on a show.

Quick pits top at Birth of Joy at the Rockstage, Cortonville. The band is strangely switching from an organ/Doors sound (to the liking of the crowd) to plain old rock that blows you away. Time for something groovy then with Jam de la Crème. Totally different setting, with people dancing and singing all out and really enjoying the supreme music this band produces. What a perfect way to finish this great Life I Live Festival.

Thank you The Hague and happy b-day Alex!
