This Saturday it’s that day again; Valentine’s Day. Have you got yourself a date already? If not, go for it! Because Rockstone gives you some pointers and ideas on how to give your Valentine a perfect musical night out. Pick one of our five suggestions below for instant success.
1. Dinner + Danny Vera + The Jungle Valentine Special – Paradiso, Amsterdam
This is not just a show, but a full evening program. It starts in the Tolhuistuin – a partner establishment of the well-known music venue Paradiso. It is a medium sized music hall, which also has its own restaurant. This restaurant is actually the former canteen of the Dutch oil company Shell and therefore a less ordinary setting than your average tavern. They serve special meals for guests who are going to a show afterwards. Enjoy, talk, and afterwards it’s time to see Danny Vera; a Dutch singer-songwriter, who doesn’t sound Dutch at all. It can be classified as Americana Music and his catchy songs are perfect for a romantic night out. If it clicks between you and your Valentine, the night doesn’t have to end immediately after the concert. Just stay we’re you are, because the Valentine Special of The Jungle is about to start. The Jungle is a weekly dancing night full of Boogie, Disco, Soul, Club and R&B, this time of course with a romantic touch.
Location: Paradiso Noord – Tolhuistuin, Amsterdam
Price: Danny Vera: €15,00 (excluding dinner), The Jungle: €10,00
2. We Love Valentine’s Day – Westergasfabriek, Amsterdam

The Westergasfabriek organises a special Valentine’s day program, possible with or without dinner. The North Sea Jazz Club will be the stage for Danny Sahupala (drums/band leader). He will be playing for you together with some other musicians that he especially selected for this night. Swing to mixtures of Funk/Jazz/Soul/Pop love songs andmake your date fall head over heels in love with you!. Afterwards you’ll have the chance to dance and make a move while listening to the tunes of DJ Fliermeister. Does it sound good, but you’re short on cash? No problem, you can also skip the dinner and still attend the rest of the night.

Price: €17,50 (standing), €22,50 (seat/dinner table), Dinner €37,50
3. All you need is Tim Akkerman – Theater Dakota + Fake Love Real Hate – Pip, The Hague
Of course The Hague will host some events to surprise your Valentine as well. We looked into them and selected an exclusive dinner show of Tim Akkerman. Rockstone recently attended the premiere of his show called The Journey, as you can read on our blog. We liked it so much that we expect that you and your date will love this event too. Interesting detail is that the audience has the possibility to decide which songs will be played. At the moment it’s unfortunately too late to hand in the requests, but they will likely all be romantic songs that suits you and your Valentine anyway. If you don’t want to spend too much money, it’s again an option to attend the show without a meal. You’d rather spend that money later in the evening, since we suggest going to the PIP afterwards. In cooperation with Red Light Radio,, this club organizes a Valentine’s event for the third year in a row now. According to the program they are going to get Paris into The Hague, with a special red light hall. A perfect setting to ask your date for a dance, on the tunes of David Vunk, Ian Martin and many others.
Location: Tim Akkerman: Theater Dakota, Fake Love Real Hate: PIP
Price: Tim Akkerman: €14,50 (concert), dinner: €17,50 (two course), €22,50 (three course), Fake Love Real Hate: €6,00 (early bird), €10,00 (door)
4. Sue the Night – Paard Van Troje, The Hague
Have you seen Tim Akkerman recently as well? Or you’re just not a big fan? No problem, because there will also be another nice show in The Hague. Dutch singer-songwriter Sue the Night will be playing her Pop/Indie/Rock songs in Paard. Her upcoming album is supposed to be a mixture of the singer-songwriters of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s, the Synthpop of the ‘80s and the innovative sound of the present. Besides that, it’s only 8,50 euro, which is great since you’ll probably have to buy two tickets. Having a good time together and want this date to never end? This option also gives you the possibility to go to the PIP afterwards!
Location: Paard van Troje, The Hague
5. Rhob Cunningham – TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht
The music of this Irish singer-songwriter is described as magic and romantic, two ingredients that are very much welcome on a night like this. Rhob Cunningham only recently released his first solo album called The Window and Day, which is hugely appreciated. Just a few months ago he also played on this particular stage, at that time as a support-act for James Vincent McMorrow. According to TivoliVredenburg, he definitely deserves to be the main act right now. Sounds perfect for you and your date!
Location: TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht
