Easter is around the corner and for most of us it’s just an extra-long weekend in which you go on a scavenger hunt for Easter eggs. After you finished your bunny-shaped croissant with the family during brunch of course. Also you may take one or two glasses of prosecco, because ‘yolo’, Easter’s once a year, ftw and all that. Yet, others decide to attend Paaspop. A festival in Schijndel (Noord-Brabant) with a slick line-up. Some of the acts you mustn’t miss if you’re going.
Buraka Som Sistema
We probably already wrote about this as a tip before, but you can’t blame the guys for being so damn catchy. Even though you don’t understand the lyrics, the beats are up-tempo and you’re bound to dance your ass off. And please do since it’s probably too cold to stand still anyway.
Sunday, 16:00, Stardust By We Are Electric
The Cool Quest
While we’re discussing the fact that it’s April and still cold; make sure to catch some heat at The Cool Quest. Tropical vibes, funky hiphop, soulful jazz and a chill vibe. It’s all you need to brighten up your day.
Sunday, 13:00, Roxy
Fresku
It’s the pride of Brabant. Rapper Fresku is priced for his daring lyrics, drenched with deeper messages and wit. But while being serious, he doesn’t take life too seriously and knows how to create a party on stage. Practise ‘De Lintworm’, you’re gonna need this move.
Sunday, 17:45, Roxy
The Indien
The Indien is no stranger to Rockstone Sessions. But not only Rockstone is familiar with the beautiful sound this band from The Hague produces. Since touring with Di-Rect and doing the aftershow for Ben Howard, it looks like they’ve gathered more and more fans. That sure makes sense since the voice of Rianne Walther is enchanting and just takes you out of this world.
Saturday, 18:15, Jack Daniel’s Stage
John Coffey
If you think we have a – maybe a bit too obvious – preference for Dutch music, then you’re probably right. But who can be blamed if we have so many great musicians in this little country? John Coffey is one of those bands that just delivers. High quality rock ‘n roll bringing you chaos in every venue they play.
Saturday, 18:00, Phoenix
Selah Sue
Strap on tight, because this little Belgian ‘raggamuffin’ (as Paaspop calls her on the website) combines jazz, pop, reggae and soul into an eclectic mix most singer-songwriters only dare dream of. A funky combination of catchy songs with a few ballads here and there. Rough around the edges and surely one worth to check out!
